I have been fascinated by artificial intelligence since studying artificial neural networks as an undergraduate engineering student over twenty years ago (my honours thesis was on stochastic pulse streams in digital Hopfield networks). I have stayed abreast of developments in the field throughout my professional career, and currently lead a number of initiatives that apply emerging technologies such as machine learning and virtual reality to solve important business problems. I would now like to contribute to the movement that is working to ensure artificial intelligence benefits humanity as a whole, which I hope to do so through my appointment as an honorary Associate Professor with the Autonomy, Agency & Assurance (3A) Innovation Institute at Australian National University (ANU), Australia's leading research university.
